Being a photographer in Altea on the Costa Blanca comes with many perks—endless sunshine, mild winters, and long Mediterranean summers. These elements make Altea not just a beautiful place to live, but also an inspiring location for photography. As a local Altea Costa Blanca photographer, I spend much of my free time by the sea, enjoying water sports like Stand Up Paddling (SUP), which has recently become part of my creative work.
A SUP Lifestyle Photography Project in Calpe
One of my recent projects was a short promotional video for Surfhouse Calpe, just a 15-minute drive north of Altea along the stunningly beautiful Mediterranean coast. It was filmed on a stunning spring day along the Mediterranean coast. A SUP brand called Freesea was looking for a Costa Blanca-based photographer and came across my website and social media posts featuring my SUP adventures.
They commissioned me to create a series of lifestyle photographs to promote their paddleboards. It was a dream assignment—I got to combine two of my passions: photography and paddleboarding. The brief was to capture real people enjoying the boards in a natural, relaxed setting, which is exactly the type of shoot I love.
SUP Photography in Altea
Once the boards arrived, I persuaded Anastasia to model for the shoot. Even though she had never tried SUP before, she took to it quickly. We shot right here in Altea, taking our time and soaking in the best of what the Costa Blanca has to offer. The result was a fun, relaxed shoot with natural photos the client loved.
I wanted to include different age groups to show how accessible and enjoyable SUP is for everyone. The calm, crystal-clear waters of the Costa Blanca are perfect for this type of water sport. This region is ideal not only for paddling but also for vibrant lifestyle photography.
A Family Affair

After delivering the final images to Freesea, they replied:
“Hi Chris, I received your photos. Your daughter is such an excellent performer. Thanks to all of you for supporting FREESEA.”
I went on to do a few more sessions and delivered a comprehensive photo package. Their follow-up message meant a lot to me:
“Hi Chris, It’s the best I have ever received. It’s more than the board itself. Thanks a lot! I’m sure we’ll have more projects to work on together in the future.”
