Event Photographer Alicante: A Luxury Porsche 911 Photoshoot in Altea

When it comes to luxury car photography, few experiences rival the thrill of photographing an iconic Porsche 911 set against the stunning backdrop of Alicante. It’s not every day that a top-tier UK publication reaches out to commission a luxury car photoshoot—but that’s exactly what happened when Total 911 magazine contacted me. Specialising in all things Porsche, Total 911 asked me to photograph a beautifully restored Porsche 911 Targa in one of the most scenic corners of Spain: Altea, nestled along the Costa Blanca in Alicante.

As an experienced event photographer in Alicante and a long-time resident of the area, I knew this assignment would be something truly special. The Mediterranean light, the winding coastal roads, and the striking Spanish architecture would create the perfect visual narrative for a car as legendary as the Porsche 911.

The brief from Total 911 was straightforward: capture a series of editorial-quality photographs of the car, the owner with the car, and various lifestyle and detail shots—all in multiple scenic locations around Altea. From the very beginning, the setting provided an incredible backdrop. Altea’s cobbled streets, blue-domed churches, and panoramic views over the Mediterranean added a timeless, elegant atmosphere to the entire shoot.

Despite being asked to deliver raw, unedited images, I couldn’t resist applying some of my own toning and subtle retouching to the photos. As a professional retoucher as well as a photographer, I always see the potential to elevate a photo’s impact with refined post-processing. I sent both the raw and edited versions to the client—just in case.

To my delight, Total 911 loved the edited images and chose to use them in both their print and online publications. It’s always rewarding when a client appreciates that extra creative input, especially when it enhances the story behind the visuals. Seeing the finished article in such a respected magazine was a proud moment and a great reminder of why I love this profession.
